ST_117298_0Ahhh, the mage, also known as: wizard, magician, sorcerer, conjurer, or master of the elements. The first paragraph of the introduction in the new edition of elemental magic clearly illustrates several of the mage's distinguishing characteristics......Wha? What? You're not familiar with this? Yawn, young people these days have no respect for conduct in the educational setting. It's like back in the time I was still studying under the master mages. I paid such a huge cost and worked so hard just to listen to those mesmerizing words. I remember how happy I was when I first heard them speak.........Oh. Forget about it. How about I give you a little introduction. \n\nFor mages, study is paramount, so we are always in pursuit of secret knowledge to further our magic skill, particularly our ability to manipulate the elements. We are particularly proficient in manipulating the two elements of wind and fire, but we also endeavor to investigate the whole spectrum of magical power that exists within ourselves and the world at large. Mages must have both knowledge and technique before they can command this massively powerful energy. If not, they risk unleashing a force that is as destructive as it is unstable. In order to avoid mis-casting, especially with those extremely complicated hand seals and difficult language, we generally wear cloth robes and light clothes on the battlefield. Without a doubt, magic has a great deal of firepower. But, up against the edge of an enemy's knife, we require a group member to help serve as a protective screen. \n\nAlthough magic's strength in battle is astonishing, most mages, myself included, truly still thirst for knowledge. Putting magic to good use is nothing more than taking the theories and skills in books and putting them into practice. We're all merely on an endless ramble upon the path of truth and knowledge. \n\nOf course, there's a lot more to magic than that. For a more detailed introduction of what remains, factions, schools, specialization, and differentiation, to name a few, you must attend class or conduct your own studies.

Sys117298_szquestnpctextAs long as you've studied diligently enough, wielding elemental power isn't a hugely difficult task. \n\nThere is however one important stipulation: you must be diligent and adopt a serious approach to the art... \n\n...Just as I'm standing around giving lessons, my research's progress has come to a grinding halt. This is a terrible price to pay. \n\nLooking forward to you adventurers getting down to your own studies, so I no longer need to be wasted like this.
