Ten years ago, the son of a Kalon Lord, [118485|Lanaik], was killed by a dwarf. This enraged the Kalon and they demanded that the Fireboot Dwarves hand over the culprit. The dwarves, however, responded saying that they had no way to determine the identity of the perpetrator.
The Kalon would not accept this explanation so they held meeting after meeting with the Fireboots, but the two parties could never come to a consensus. Soon a group of Kalon started to suspect that maybe the Fireboot Dwarves planned the whole thing. Lord [118309|Ronick] didn't think this is possible. He thinks that the two kingdoms have such a deep relationship that there is no way that something like that could have happened. But a long time passed and the killer's identity was never determined, the lord also got tired of looking.
Special Envoy, I am an envoy sent by [ZONE_DAELANIS|Dalanis] to the [ZONE_KALORN_KINGDOM|Kingdom of Kalon]. I was originally sent to uphold justice for the Kalon, but Envoy [118272|Palor Douve] thinks that the dwarves have their own hardships and the Fireboot Dwarves shouldn't be responsible for all the blame. This led to an argument between me and him which eventually came to blows...
I think that Special Envoy is not someone who makes decisions based on hearing only one side of the a story. You can go to the other side of the camp to find Envoy [118272|Palor Douve] and hear his position. Then you will have a better understanding of everything. Please let me rest for a bit. Actually, the Fireboots have also run into a dilemma where the perpetrator was unable to be found. The Dwarf King [118322|Raefther Fireboot] told me that ten years ago a Kalon snuck into the tunnel where the battleaxe - Hurricane was hidden and tried to steal the treasure from there. The thief was killed by a guard and the treasure was recovered, but, when the body was returned to the Kalon to be identified, they claimed that they didn't know who it was. This news made the Fireboot Dwarves very angry. They thought the Kalon were just covering for the criminal. This matter keeps coming up in meetings between the two kingdoms and just leads to more arguing.
Since none of the treasure was lost, the Dwarf King never planned to to ask for compensation from the Kalon, but the Kalon were resolute in their demands for the culprit who killed [118485|Lanaik]. This led to constant quarrels between the two kingdoms. The final meeting never came to a consensus and the two kingdoms entered a war that has lasted for ten years.
The way I see it, the Fireboot Dwarves have also been wronged. The Kalon shouldn't be so aggressive. However, I know why they refuse to make a concession...
Now you should be able to understand my helplessness. Neither side is willing to forgive the other for their actions. Neither one will accomodate the other's losses and apologize. It's a stalemate.
