Vor langer Zeit teilte man das Jahr in vier Jahreszeiten ein: Frühling, Sommer, Herbst und Winter. Jede Jahreszeit wurde in drei Monate geteilt. Der August ist der mittlere Monat des Herbstes, und der Fünfzehnte ist der mittlere Tag des mittleren Monats. Daher heißt das Fest auch Mittherbstfest.\n\nDer Grund, aus dem das Mittherbstfest in China eine solch große Bedeutung genießt, liegt in den vielfältigen traditionellen Geschichten begründet, die über den Mond erzählt werden. Die berühmteste dieser Geschichten ist die von Chang'e. Die erste Version dieser Geschichte ist im Buch Huainanzi aufgezeichnet. Der Geschichte zufolge gab es zur Zeit der Xia-Dynastie einen geschickten Bogenschützen namens Houyi, der später ein bedeutender Anführer wurde. Er hatte eine Frau namens Chang'e. Houyi wollte ewig leben, daher besuchte er die Königinmutter des Westens, um sie um einen Unsterblichkeitstrank zu bitten. Er kehrte mit dem Trank zurück und erzählte Chang'e davon. Aber Chang'e trank ihn selbst, als ihr Mann nicht zu Hause war, und stieg zum Mond hinauf. Die Chinesen glauben, dass die Schatten des Mondes von ihr stammen. Während des Mittherbstfestes wird die Geschichte erneut erzählt und trägt zur fröhlichen Atmosphäre der Feierlichkeiten bei. | The 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calandar is the traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival. In ancient times, people divided the year into four seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter. Each month was then split into three months. The 8th month is the middle month of fall, and the 15th is the middle day of the middle month, which is why it's also called the Mid-Autumn Festival.\n\nThe reason why Mid-Autumn Festival is such a big festival in China has to do with the various traditional tales told about the moon. The most famous of these stories is that of Chang'e. The first recorded version of the story is in the the book Huainanzi. The story says that in the Xia dynasty there was a skilled archer named Houyi, who later became a leader. He also had a wife named Chang'e. Houyi wanted to live forever, so he visted the Queen Mother of the West, to ask for a potion of immortality. He brought the potion back and told Chang'e. But Chang'e drank it herself when her husband wasn't home and ascended to the moon. Chinese people imagine that the shadows on the moon are her. This story is retold during the Mid-Autumn Festival, and adds to the fun atmosphere of the celebrations. |

So brachte er den Bedürftigen im harten Winter die notwendigen Vorräte.\n\nAls das Auge der Weisheit schließlich nach Candara gekommen war, entschieden sie sich, diesen Brauch fortzuführen und hofften damit, auch gute Beziehungen zu den Einheimischen zu pflegen. So legten sie, ebenso wie Zachariel es schon getan hatte, in der Jahreszeit des starken Schneefalls ein rotes Gewand an und versorgten die Einheimischen mit den notwendigen Gütern. Diese Geste half den Menschen, die langen Winter zu überstehen, und festigte zudem das Vertrauen der Einheimischen gegenüber dem Auge der Weisheit. Bald wurde es ein fester Brauch, dem wir jeden Winter nachkamen und der heute allgemein als das Schneeflockenfest bezeichnet wird.\n\nNachdem die Phirius-Werkstätten gegründet worden waren, machten sie sich diesen Brauch zu Nutze. Sie machten ein paar Änderungen an dem roten Gewand und ließen ihre Leute diese Gewänder tragen, wenn sie Geschenke an die Kinder auslieferten. Sie fanden damit besonderen Anklang bei den Leuten und verdienten auch nicht schlecht dabei.\n\nDas Schneeflockenfest wurde von Jahr zu Jahr immer bedeutender. Immer mehr Leute nahmen an den Aktivitäten zum Schneeflockenfest teil und heute mag keiner mehr diese wunderbare Atmosphäre und die aufregende Stimmung des Schneeflockenfestes missen. | Zachariel was a Great Mage of the Eye of Wisdom from the time 400 years ago when the Eye of Wisdom was still residing on the Kolydian continent. He was well known because of his benevolent deeds. In the midst of a harsh winter he would provide the needy with supplies.\n\nOnce the people of the Eye of Wisdom had come to Candara, they decided to keep this habit in order to foster a peaceful relationship with the local people. When the season of heavy snow had come they would, just as Zachariel had done, wear a red robe and provide the local people with supplies. This gesture helped many endure the long winters and also built trust between the people and the Eye of Wisdom. Soon we were doing this every winter and it became a custom and was named the Snowflake Festival.\n\nAfter the Phirius Workshops had been set up, they meant to take advantage of this custom and decided to make some modifications to the red robe and thereafter let their people wear these robes while delivering presents to little children. Their actions won many praises from the people and also allowed them to make more money.\n\nThe Phirius Workshops taking a fancy to this custom would make the Snowflake Festival an even bigger event in the years to come. Each year more and more people took part in these activities creating this wonderful and exciting atmosphere that we can experience during the winter season nowadays. |
