ST_110055_1In the beginning, Varanas chose us to explore and develop this area, but at the time strange demons and weird creatures filled the land, and performed bizarre sacrificial rituals in the Barrow every night. The name Howling Mountains was chosen because of the howling that rose to the sky during those rituals.\n\nWe were ready to fight the demons when we came here to settle, but the Eye of Wisdom was willing to help us clear the region using magic instead. The campaign to get rid of the remaining creatures soon began, and by the end, there were almost none left. Afterwards, we promptly begain to establish towns in the region.\n\nFrom the recent presence of the Kobolds and other occurrences, we are starting to realize that the campaign was not as successful as we had thought. But at least it has provided for a quiet and safe home for the past ten years.
ST_110055_2Logar and George were the two leaders of the initial exploration party. They were brothers, and were always arguing with each other.\n\nLogar was an adventurer with a keen sense of justice and amazing skills, while George was mild-mannered and excelled at planning. One was responsible for the city's layout, and the other was in charge of the party's safety. Things went smoothly thanks to their skills... until Pirlanok showed up.\n\nThe mages of the Eye of Wisdom couldn't believe that any monster could have survived their campaign, and they never could have imagined such a monster could be so powerful. We were all worried, for our town was at risk even before it was finished being built. In the end, Logar drove Pirlanok towards the Dead Tree Cave with a special spear provided by the Eye of Wisdom, and eventually killed him. We don't know what happened after that.\n\nAll we know is that it was the end of Pirlanok, and that Logar never returned. In order to remember the hero who saved our town, we named it after him.
ST_110055_3Right! Right! The story had remained a mystery to us... that is, until you arrived and helped us solve it.\n\nPirlanok had a kind of outer skin that could defend him against any magical attack, and the only way for the Mages of the Eye of Wisdom to attack it was to pierce through the skin to let the magic force enter his body. So they made a spear and flung it using magical force, but I saw it come to a sudden halt in a web that Pirlanok created. After that, Pirlanok became very cautious, hiding in the [ZONE_DEADWOOD CAVERN|Dead Tree Cave] in the day and attacking us by surprise only at night.\n\nLogar later took back the spear, eventually thrusting it through Pirlanok as they fought. Although everyone urged him not to, he entered the [ZONE_DEADWOOD CAVERN|Dead Tree Cave] to finish it once and for all.\n\nIt's well known that he managed to pierce Pirlanok with the spear and seal both the spear and its strength in the depths of the [ZONE_DEADWOOD CAVERN|Dead Tree Cave]. Logar, though, was so badly wounded that he was killed by Pirlanok's followers, leaving us with no corpse to tend to.\n\nYet it's very strange that no one found the spear before [110063|Dion]. I'm sure that is the makings of another grand tale.
