We had no means of fending off their relentless attacks. I gave the order to withdraw. Fortunately lieutenant Sam rescued us and we were all able to escape unharmed."\n\nThe next day the journal has this final entry:\n\n"We're under attack! Half the team members have died...and lieutenant Sam is simply laughing at all this! It's too weird...I fear that Sam is no longer himself...I will investigate this matter and protect the [200889|Circle of Winternight]..."\n\nThe journal doesn't go any further... It is said that [<S>100276|Winternight Ice Witches] can steal the soul of a man and then control the soulless body. I believe that this is what happened to lieutenant Sam; he became a puppet for the Ice Witches. The entire party was then wiped out by him! He wanted to get hold of the [200889|Circle of Winternight].\n\nAlthough what happened is tragic, the [200889|Circle of Winternight] is the passageway into the [ZONE_THE FROZEN CITADEL|Frozen City]. If that was lost, then entering the [ZONE_THE FROZEN CITADEL|Frozen City] would be extremely difficult for us.\n\nPlease can I ask one more thing of you? Please collect the [200889|Circle of Winternight] from the [<S>100276|Winternight Ice Witches]. I should report this to our central headquarters. I promise to reward you.
